Accelerating Workforce Development
On February 13th, 2020, the NC State Ethical AI for Workforce Empowerment team hosted a summit as part of the National Science Foundation’s Convergence Accelerator (NSF C-Accel) grant project. National and local stakeholders engaged with our team and spent the day brainstorming project solutions to better connect the ecosystem of learning, employment, and wrap-around services in North Carolina and beyond.
In phase 1, our multidisciplinary team from NC State University worked to explore the use of AI technologies to support future workforce development through credential gap analysis, personalized training and job recommendations, and strategies to develop soft skills and skills to work with AI-assisted recruiting technologies.
Looking ahead to phase 2, we hope to develop a generalized framework that unites workers, employers, training agencies, and wrap-around services in a unified ecosystem to facilitate multi-stakeholder communication and collaboration at the regional and national levels.
